Laughter Yoga Online Session
Particularly during today’s Covid pandemic, we are all missing out on connections with other humans. The idea of eye-contact, is limited to fellow householders only. With everyone else it’s mostly supermarket queues, fast walk-pasts, and 2m distance, often with masks on.
Our relaxed coffee and chat moments with colleagues are no more – and our online meetings have grown ever more formal, ever more demanding. We zone out on zoom, with so many faces, and so much formality. We certainly don’t feel like we’re in a team, as we all sit in our own bubbles, away from people.
How Laughter Yoga can help break the isolation bubble
A short (30-50 mins) fun laughter yoga session online, is a great way to blast away any stresses and strains, whilst boosting the endorphins, the feel-good hormones. It reconnects us to people who we love working with. It means that our online connectivity isn’t about productivity, but fun. And it is fun and togetherness that oil the wheels of great creativity and productivity.
Laughter Yoga encourages you to get in touch with your inner child, to embrace playfulness and find every opportunity to laugh. In addition it creates the perfect setting for you to meet people and (re)make friends, and make connections with people on a deep and meaningful level.
Finally, Laughter Yoga also involves a period of relaxation or “grounding” – something that all too often, we simply forget to give to ourselves.
Laughter Yoga can be a stretch – boosts resilience –
Laughter Yoga is certainly not the “norm”. People often find it quite a stretch to begin with, but once they have embraced this opportunity to let go, to get back in touch with their less formal, more fun, side, they truly value the freedom that this provides them. It builds resilience, recreates bonds
Laughter Yoga brings people together for longer
Laughter yoga sessions will be discussed for weeks, months if not years after the event. Laughter yoga sessions give a common theme to discuss (one that isn’t Covid, banana bread recipes or where to find the baking yeast!) Love it or loathe it*, Laughter Yoga creates a deeply-felt shared moment between people who may otherwise have little else in common. (*Most people do love it, but I also have one business client whose MD loathes it. However she keeps on booking me to do more sessions, as she says she “loathes it less each time” – and her people love it so much, and get massive benefits from it)
And finally it’s good for us
It boosts your oxygen, boosts immunity and it’s a laugh! And even if you don’t feel like laughing at the start, you’ll be laughing, chuckling and guffawing at the end. With a final relaxation moment, you can let everything sink into perspective, and feel refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the day
